Sandy Griffith became a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2003 and since then has developed her interests in animal behaviour, emotional well being; neurology; physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Sandy is Deputy Head nurse at the busy referral Stone Lion Veterinary Hospital).
Sandy obtained her Diploma as a Bach Flower Animal Practitioner through the Natural Animal Centre and is registered with the Bach Foundation. She is able to apply this knowledge in her spare time, and after referral from her veterinary colleagues, offers flower remedy consultations for small animals. She deals with problems such as inappropriate elimination and settling into a new environment. If necessary or more appropriate Sandy will also refer the patient for additional behavioural therapy.
In 2008 Sandy was invited by Dame Daphne Sheldrick to spend time at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust’s Nairobi Nursery (where Elephant Diaries was filmed). She was able use flower remedies on the orphan elephants who have suffered deep trauma, grief and loss in their young lives. Sandy published the story of this amazing life changing experience in the Veterinary Nursing times, as well as the Bach Foundation Newsletter (in the UK, France and Canada). She is really excited about returning to the orphanage in September of this year. Currently Sandy is studying Clinical Application of Pheromonatherapy in the Management of Problem Behaviours in Companion Animals through the (University of Lincoln). She is also researching her article on Feline Infectious Diseases for publication later in the year.
